Whole Detox

Frequently Asked Questions

What does “detox” mean?

The practice of detoxification or removing toxins has long been cultivated in medical and spiritual traditions. In the 21st century, detoxification has taken on many meanings, from alcohol and drug detox to purging the body of environmental contaminants like heavy metals (mercury, lead, arsenic), plastics, phthalates, and pesticides, to name a few. There are many modalities proposed to help facilitate the release of these toxins.

The Whole Detox program includes nutrition, meditations, affirmations, yoga movements, and visualizations to facilitate the removal of toxins from body, mind, and spirit.

Why do we have to “detox”?

In today’s world, we are bombarded with more chemicals than ever before. An estimated 80,000 chemicals are found in our environment, not including the toxins we make inside of us from stress, inflammation, or gut microflora imbalance.

Knowing what we know now about the body and the environment, it doesn’t make good biological and biochemical sense to not focus on detox because we are already detoxing. Each of us is different in our capacity to cleanse. An accumulation of toxins and lack of nourishing inner support of mind, body, and spirit could be at the root of our symptoms.

Who is detoxing recommended for?

Depending on the detox, it can be for everyone. It’s a good strategy for people to do Whole Detox who have symptoms they cannot seem to solve on their own and for which there are no defined medical solutions for, such as fatigue, joint pain, unexplainable weight gain, gastrointestinal upset, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, poor sleep, skin breakouts, bloating, pain, and inflammation.

Why 21 days?

Whole Detox lasts 21 days to give the body, mind, and spirit a chance to fully reset while establishing long-term lifestyle changes. It has been said that it takes 21 days to change a habit.

Why don’t most nutritional detoxes last?

Most programs lead to only a temporary fix and reduction in symptoms. There are three reasons sustained results aren’t obtained for most people: (1) the programs don’t deal with the whole body; (2) they focus on what to take out, but not what to put in; and (3) they don’t lay the groundwork for success after the detox.

Why is Whole Detox different?

Whole Detox is a 21-day program designed to get to the root of why people have certain health issues and toxic barriers. It can effectively meet a person where they are—you can personalize it to be gentle or more rigorous. It provides personalized options for wellness, from recipes to journaling to physical movement to mind-body practices such as affirmations, guided imagery, and meditation. Because it’s personalized and offers a buffet of options that are all impactful, the participant can decide what they most need to do and where Whole Detox will be most effective in their lives. Truly, Whole Detox is a full-spectrum approach to lifestyle change for healing the whole self, not just a part.

What is the Whole Detox Spectrum Quiz?

The Whole Detox Spectrum Quiz is in the Whole Detox book and is also available online. It will help to personalize the Whole Detox program to address those systems of health that are most out of balance. Take the quiz.

Do you have a guidebook to follow along with the program?

When we track progress, we simply do better.  That’s why I recently decided to create a simple Whole Detox guidebook that includes information on the 7 systems of health with places to chart food intake, emotions, thoughts, movements, words, visualizations, meditations, and much more. I’ve included a simple grocery list (omnivore and vegan) to take to the grocery store (so you can leave your Whole Detox book at home) for the full 21-day program. Download your free guide here!

In some countries, Whole Detox may not be available on your local Amazon site. However, you will still be able to purchase the Kindle and audio versions from Amazon.com (not your country-specific Amazon site, e.g. amazon.co.uk). If you don’t have a Kindle, you can download a free Kindle app here.

As an added bonus, the book also has fascinating research and case studies that will provide an excellent supplement to your Whole Detox experience! You can obtain your copy here.

However, throughout the program, you will find suggestions of supplementary vitamins you may take if you feel it would be beneficial, but always check with your healthcare practitioner first.
